Why Black Tie Weddings Never Go Out of Style

There’s something about black tie weddings that just hits differently. The elegance, the sophistication, and that effortlessly timeless feel—it's a classic choice that will be just as stylish 100 years from now as it is today. Ollie and Eloise fully embraced the black tie vibe, infusing their wedding day with personal touches and luxurious details. From the stunning floral arrangements to the unique wedding cars and even a pram full of cigars and whiskey, every element was planned to perfection.

A Morning Full of Surprises

It didn't all go to plan though... The wedding morning took an unexpected turn when Ollie and Eloise received some dreaded news— their original wedding photographer was unwell and couldn’t make it. Now this does occasionally happen which is why suppliers will have their backup plan. Fortunately, I was available at short notice and stepped in to ensure their day unfolded just as planned.

Eloise and her bridesmaids got ready at her family home, surrounded by laughter and excitement. The summer breeze was more like a strong wind, so we opted for indoor portraits to keep those freshly styled hairdos intact. But the real drama? A last-minute dress mishap! As Eloise was getting ready, one of her dress buttons popped off. Thankfully, her incredible mum had a sewing kit on hand and saved the day by sewing it back on in situ. What an absolute hero! Pro tip for all brides: a bridal emergency kit is always a good idea!

A Beautiful & Meaningful Church Ceremony

Choosing a meaningful ceremony location can make all the difference, and for Ollie and Eloise, their local church was the perfect setting. With its historic charm and sentimental value, it set the stage for a heartfelt service, surrounded by close friends, family and of course, their family Collie. This is where they tied the knot in accompanied by the voice of Hobo Chic and his guitar.

The Ultimate Wedding Cars – Ferrari, Anyone?

Now, let's talk about wedding cars. Some couples hire classic cars, others modern but Ollie took things to another level. As a passionate racer and car enthusiast, he assembled a dream lineup of some of the world’s finest metal. This was a real centrepiece to the day. The highlight? A Ferrari F40. And the best part? A private driveway + an F40 burnout = one of the most iconic wedding photo opportunities ever. Absolute perfection.

After some absolutely hilarious speeches (Ollie’s brother’s best man speech had everyone in tears—of laughter, mostly!)

Home weddings always have a unique charm, and you could feel the warmth and joy radiating throughout the day. Guests were relaxed, the banter was flowing, and those unfiltered, candid moments were in full swing.

For me, these unscripted interactions are what truly tell the story of the day—genuine, real, and full of life.

I always encourage my couples to enjoy their time with loved ones rather than spending hours on posed photos. Instead, we captured natural, high-energy moments throughout the day, keeping things relaxed and effortless.

As the day drew to an end, the night kicked off with a packed dance floor full of people of all ages having the best time followed by the pram of treats being wheeled out to the cars for a spot of whiskey and some cigars for the group. Finally, what better way to get everyone bouncing than a huge champagne spray before hitting the dance floor hard!
